JOB OPENING - CHURCH PROGRAM COORDINATOR

St. Luke's United Church of Christ of Independence, Missouri is accepting resumes for the position of Church Program Coordinator.  It is a permanent, part-time position which offers salary commensurate with experience. This position provides a vital ministry to our congregation. 

 

Overview: The Church Program Coordinator is a vital member of our church staff and contributor to the spiritual growth and well-being of the congregation. This individual is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the Church programs for the congregation. Church programs include, but are not limited to, Sunday School, Advent/Christmas, Lenten/Easter activities, and other fellowship events throughout the year. A commitment to interpersonal relationships and the nurturing of faith is part of this important ministry.

 

This is a part-time position averages 10-15 hrs a week and comes with 2 weeks of paid vacation time annually. Must be available Sundays from 8 am to 1 pm and program events.  Other hours can be worked from home or in person at the church. Hours will vary week to week based on planned activities.

 

Job Responsibilities: The Church Program Coordinator shall give direction, under the guidance of the Board of Christian Education and Programming, to the educational ministry and other program needs of the congregation. Responsibilities include:

 

1.  Coordinate and assist the Board of Christian Education and Programming 

     a.  includes minimum of 6 meetings per year to support Sunday School and coordinate other program needs

     b.  includes attending Church Council or designating a CE Board and Programming representative. Meetings are usually second Thursday                of each month and are on zoom.

2.  Sunday School every Sunday from September through May

3.  Christmas Pageant development and coordination

4.  Youth programming and coordination

5. Special Events (Halloween, Theme Dinners, Advent & Lenten activities)

6.  Annual Report submission

7.  Safe Church Policy oversight

8.  Other duties as needed

 

Qualifications: The Church Program Coordinator shall possess the following qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent, degree preferred
  • Experience with coordinating and scheduling for a volunteer-based organization
  • Effective communicator with good written and verbal skills
  • Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Comfortable with common Internet browsing and search techniques
  • Well-organized and skilled at team building with children, youth, and adult volunteers
  • Ability to nurture and deepen the faith lives of our children and youth in alignment with beliefs and teachings of our open and affirming UCC congregation

Working Relationships

 

The Church Program Coordinator must have good working relationships with the pastor and other staff members, the Board of Christian Education and Programming, the Church Council members, and the congregation. It is especially important that the Church Program Coordinator have a friendly attitude and works at developing a relationship with the children and youth of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.
