On Sunday, February 16, 2020, the congregation of St. Luke's United Church of Christ church in Independence, MO honored Rev. Paul Emily by celebrating his 5th anniversary as their pastor. During worship, Terry Schuster gave a special recognition by looking back at the many events, classes, activites, and programs that Paul led. At the end of the service, Council President, Jodie Puhr gave Pastor Paul a stole as a gift from the congregation. It had birds and was purple and cream. (The theme for 2020 is birds and Paul's favorite color is purple.) Dianne Emily shared a thank you from the family with the congregation.
Following worship, a potluck dinner was held in the Fellowship Hall. Special music was provided by Margie Foley and Matthew Bennett. The Youth Group shared memories of good times they have had with Paul during Youth trips and Youth Group meetings. Then a trivia game about Paul was played. The day closed with comments from Paul and an excitement about what would come next at St. Luke's. If you a looking for a church, you are invited to St. Luke's United Church of Christ! We would love for you to meet Pastor Paul and join in the worship, study and fun!
